Braewood is a late Victorian House situated in a semi rural location on the outskirts of Freshwater in the West Wight.
We like to offer our guests a relaxing stay with full access to the facilities on offer at all times of the day. Guests are most welcome to make use of the garden, to sit and enjoy the pleasures of the abundant wildlife.
Braewood is ideally located for the walker to use a base from which a number of beautiful walks can be explored. The large garden, which starts as a well-maintained typical English country garden, adjacent to the house, has a small pond and is well stocked with a variety of beautiful flowers.
Further from the house the garden becomes a semi rural area with a selection of cultivated flowers and vegetables and our own laying hens. Yet further down the garden it becomes a natural wild garden with the upper reaches of the River Yar forming the boarder as it meanders through a wild wooded area at the bottom of the garden. We have a rich selection of wildlife from semi tame ducks that come up from the river, to moorhens and pheasants that come and go on a regular basis. In addition there are the regular bird varieties including blue tits, jays and woodpeckers. There is also a cheeky little red squirrel that lives in the local trees.
We have a luxurious en-suite double room, with balcony and breathtaking views over the large garden and Tennyson Downs in the distance, and a second very comfortable twin/double room. The other guest rooms have tea-making facilities plus exclusive shared use of a bright modern bathroom. Breakfast, ranging from a hearty English breakfast to a simple slice of toast is taken in the comfortable dining room.
Evening meals based on traditional English cuisine can be made available on request. Cost of accommodation is from £25 per person per night. Laundry facilities can be made available on request for a small fee.
